Theresa "Tree" Gelbman is a university student who relives her death day over and over. She reawakens every morning on her birthday and has to try and solve her own murder. However, she quickly discovers that with every iteration of the time loop, she grows weaker and weaker as the murders take a toll on her body. Eventually, she discovers the true identity of her killer, but also some revelations about herself and her lifestyle that could use fixing.

The movie "Happy Death Day" was released in 2017 and was a general success, enough so that a sequel was made. It starred Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard and was directed by Christopher Landon.

"Galaxy Quest" is a sci-fi comedy film starring Tim Allen. It is intended to be a parody of "Star Trek". In the film, a group of aliens believed the "Galaxy Quest" television series was real and they constructed a fully functional replica of the ship used in the show. The Omega-13 is a device that was used in one of the "Galaxy Quest" episodes. It is a time travel device that can reverse time by 13 seconds, which is just long enough to correct a single mistake. Tim Allen's character Commander Taggart uses the Omega-13 after his crew is slaughtered by the villain Sarris (Robin Sachs). Sarris had disguised himself as the ship's engineer (Tony Shalhoub). The Omega-13 allows Taggart to go back 13 seconds and stop Sarris.

"The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", or "Toki o Kakeru Shōjo" in Japanese, was based on a novel by Japanese author Yasutaka Tsutsui. It was released as a live-action film in Japan in 1983, then again as an anime in 2006, and once again as a live-action film in 2010. It also has several non-film adaptations. In the movie, a girl is caught in several time loops when she gains the ability to jump through time by inhaling a drug. While trying to change the past, the girl has to relive a certain day. It was a success and became Japan's second-highest grossing film of 1983.

"Looper" is a time travel movie that was released in 2012. In "Looper", Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis both play an assassin named Joe. Joe is a unique kind of assassin who kills targets that are sent to him from the future. Once Joe's employers have no further use of his services, the older Joe (Bruce Willis) will be sent back in time in order to be assassinated by his younger self (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in order to prevent the mobsters of the future from getting busted.

In the movie, middle-aged Adam Yates (John Cusack) along with his nephew Jacob (Clark Duke) and two of Adam's friends take a vacation up to a ski resort.
